Famous for its spectacular coastline and sunny seaside resorts, Cornwall is one of the UK’s most popular holiday destinations. Its golden sandy beaches attract millions of visitors every year, and this summer will also welcome some of the biggest names on the UK music scene.

From Stormzy to Sir Tom Jones, the Cornish coast is set to host an incredible variety of acts across a series of festivals. Here, in no particular order, are 5 of the best…

BOARDMASTERS

When: 9-13 August 2017

Where: Fistral Beach & Watergate Bay, Newquay

Cornwall’s biggest music festival combines live music, surfing and extreme sports to create an action-packed weekend by the sea. With panoramic views across Watergate Bay from several live music stages, Boardmasters’ cliff-top location is up there with the most spectacular of all the UK festivals.

Surf, skate and BMX competitions run from the Wednesday down at Fistral Beach, where you can also enjoy live music sessions as the sun sets.

This year’s line-up includes: Two Door Cinema Club, Jamiroquai, Alt-J, Stormzy, Gorgon City, Jake Bugg, Slaves & many more.

LOOE MUSIC FESTIVAL

When: 29 September – 1 October 2017

Where: Looe Beach, Looe

Just when it looks as though the summer season has come to an end, the seaside town of Looe bursts to life for 3-day party on the beach.

From 29 September – 1 October the harbour is transformed into a huge party, with the whole town taking part.

This year the festival welcomes more than 100 live acts from the UK and beyond for a long weekend of music, entertainment and family fun.

2017’s acts include: Happy Mondays, The Jesus And Mary Chain, Lulu, The Undertones, The Correspondents, Reverend And The Makers & many more.

TUNES IN THE DUNES

When: 30 June – 2 July 2017

Where: Perranporth Beach, Cornwall

An expansion of the huge live music schedule at The Watering Hole, Tunes In The Dunes gives you the chance to catch a collection of UK and international artists on the beautiful golden sands of Perranporth beach.

The festival has got bigger and better each year, and has delivered its most impressive line-up yet for 2017.

This year’s acts include: Clean bandit, John Newman, Xavier Rudd, Billy Ocean, Louisa Johnson, Example, The Levellers & many more.

ELECTRIC BEACH

When: 16 – 17 June 2017

Where: Great Western Beach, Newquay

Electric Beach moves to a brand new venue this year for what’s shaping up to be its biggest event yet. Previously held at Fistral, the festival makes its debut at Great Western Beach in 2017, welcoming an eclectic variety of acts including Mercury Award winning singer-songwriter Badly Drawn Boy, festival favourites Cuban Brothers and genre-bending electro duo Wolf Club.

On top of a great line-up of music, the two-day event also features surf competitions, stand up paddle boarding, fire shows, yoga and much more.

2017’s acts include: Badly Drawn Boy, Cuban Brothers, Wolf Club, Regime, Antimidator.

BANDS IN THE SAND
