Additional Acts Announced for Margate’s By The Sea Festival
By the Sea Festival has announced their second wave of acts, who will be joining headliners Metronomy, The Libertines, and Everything Everything. The three-day event, which takes place at the seaside resort’s Dreamland theme park, lasts from Friday, September 29th to Sunday, October 1st.
Other acts who have been confirmed up to now include the brilliant British Sea Power, who have a cult following thanks to their debut album The Decline of British Sea Power, which was released to wide critical acclaim, as were their subsequent albums, of which there are four.
Their sound is incredibly popular and has drawn the band comparisons to the likes of The Pixies and Joy Division. Fans of the two, who are yet to be introduced to British Sea Power, are encouraged to check them out at the festival.
Also added to the line-up is London folk singer-songwriter, Marika Hackman. Hackman released her second album, I’m Not Your Man, this year. While not as well received as her debut, We Slept at Last (many critics sounding her change of direction as their reasons) she is sure to delight the audience as she takes to the stage at By the Sea.
Joining both acts, we have Girl Ray, the very dubiously named Deep Throat Choir, HMLTD, Dream Wife, Flamingods, and Wesley Gonzalez. No doubt there are more line-up announcements to come as we get closer to the festival, so keep your eyes peeled on Nextfest for news as it comes in.
In keeping with the amusement park theme, the rides have been updated to allow festival goers to make use of them, as part of Margate’s rejuvenation of the area.
By the Sea Festival takes place between September 29th and October 1st, at Dreamland Amusement Park, Margate.
