Further Announcements Made for WOMAD Line-Up

This year’s WOMAD is already set up to be a scorcher this year, with tonnes of acts already confirmed to be playing the festival, which takes place at Charlton Park in Malmesbury, between July 27th -30th.

Already confirmed for the 40,000 capacity festival are over 100 artists from around 40 different destinations across the globe, which is why the acronym WOMAD – World of Music, Arts, and Dance is so fitting.

These artists include the likes of headliners and reggae all-stars, Toots & the Maytals, alternative drum & bass act (and Squarepusher‘s band), Shobaleader One, Swedish fusion group, Goat, and the amazing Seun Kuti & Egypt 80.

Also on the line-up are Afro Celt SoundsystemLadysmith Black Mambazo, and Emir Kusturica & The No Smoking Orchestra. All of these acts have been carefully selected by the organisers to ensure that the festival is a true representation of global music and art.

Organisers have announced that further acts are to be added to the bill. These include Brazilian pop samba act Seu Jorge, who will be playing WOMAD as his only UK festival appearance – consider yourself honoured!

Also playing are Toko Telo, who hail from Madagascar, Varttina Vocal Trio, who’s brand of Finnish folk music is sure to delight all present, and Spain’s Prexton, who adds a touch of the Latin vibe to folk music.

Additionally, organisers have confirmed that Brazil’s DJ Marky will be throwing down some solid d&b, helped along by partner in crime, MC GQ. On a similar bass tip, we have hip-hop from UK artist Loyle Carner, while Ife (AKA Mark Underwood) will be presenting his brand new project. They will be joined by Junun, featuring Shye Ben & The Rajasthan Express.

WOMAD takes place between September 29th and October 1st at Charlton Park, Malmesbury, Wiltshire. For the full line-up, photos, videos and ticket information head over to our WOMAD Festival page.
