Black Deer Festival Reveals Full Line-up, Including Kiefer Sutherland & Passenger
It may come as a surprise to many that one of the stars of Lost Boys, Stand By Me, and Flatliners – all films that will have contributed, in some way, to the formative years of many who will be in attendance at Black Deer 2018 – Kiefer Sutherland, is also kind of a big deal on the Americana scene.
Not, however, to those who were at Glastonbury, last year, where Sutherland delivered a heartfelt performance, at one point dedicating a song to his teenage friend and co-star, River Phoenix.
June 22nd-24th sees Sutherland joining an all-star line-up representing the many different facets of music that Americana branches out into, from country music, to alt-country, to folk. Indeed, the festival is to be headlined by Iron & Wine, who has penned some of the most achingly beautiful contemporary music that is to be found. Tracks like Naked as We Came, Cinder and Smoke, and the effortlessly emotive Joy will all be given an airing.
You’ll certainly know Let Her Go singer-songwriter and co-headliner, Passenger, if you are a folk-rock fan worth their salt. The Brightonian cites a wide range of influences, from sample-based beatscapes of DJ Shadow, to the acoustic genius of Simon and Garfunkel, so expect some Beck-quality alternative folk music from the solo artist.
Additional artists confirmed to play at Black Deer 2018 include, Elles Bailey, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Wildwood Kin, The Webb Sisters, Ashley Campbell, and Sam Palladio. You can check out the rest of the line-up on the flyer, below.
The festival will include heaps of additional activities besides the music, including some really interesting stuff like custom motorcycles – the first time we’ve ever heard of anything like that at a music festival, but it sounds awesome. Obviously, your hunger and thirst will be well catered for by the artisan food market and a host of bars peddling craft ale and cider.
Tickets for Black Deer 2018 are still available at the second pricing tier of £150+bf (a steal for a weekend of music). Get yours, here.
