Boardmasters Cancelled Due to Severe Weather Forecast
Cornwall’s largest live music festival, Boardmasters, has been forced to cancel on the eve of the event due to forecasted storms at Watergate Bay.
Roughly 50,000 ticket-holders received the news last night via Boardmasters’ social media channels, with organisers citing severe weather, specifically strong winds, as the reason for calling off the five-day festival.
Full statement below.
Wu-Tang Clan, Florence + The Machine and Foals were all set to headline this year’s festival, with Dizzee Rascal, Lewis Capaldi and Jorja Smith also lined up to perform over the course of the weekend.
At the time of writing, winds are forecast to exceed 50mph at the Watergate Bay festival site; stronger than the winds which led to the cancellation of Boardmasters’ final day in 2014, which was set to be headlined by Bastille.
Boardmasters will be updating ticket-holders on refund info over the next couple of days.
