Boardmasters Announce Florence + The Machine, Dizzee Rascal, Jorja Smith & More For 2019
The UK’s biggest surf and music festival, Boardmasters, have just announced the first wave of artists to be crashing onto the shores of Watergate Bay next August, including Saturday night headliner Florence + The Machine.
The Cornish festival has grown exponentially over the past ten years, hosting the likes of Snoop Dogg, Jamiraquai and, most recently, The Chemical Brothers, but this is possibly their most high-profile headliner yet.
Having headlined Glastonbury and sold out multiple live arena tours, and with a back catalogue of three #1 albums, Florence + The Machine are one of music’s most sought-after live bands, and will be a huge draw for 2019’s event.
The festival’s organiers have also confirmed a further 17 artists for next August, including UK grime superstars Dizzee Rascal and Giggs, plus Drum and Bass heavyweights Wilkinson and Sub Focus.
They’re joined on the line-up by one of this year’s most exciting new artists, Jorja Smith. With a 2018 Brits Critics’ Choice award, Mercury Prize nomination and a critically-acclaimed debut album under her belt, the Walsall-based artist is tipped for even more big things next year, and is a must-see at Boardmasters 2019.
Elsewhere, Bristol-based punk rockers IDLES, who released the incredible Joy as an Act of Resistance album earlier this year, will also be in attendance, as will indie rock legends Franz Ferdinand, who arrive armed with a rake of festival anthems from across their 15 years.
Boardmasters 2019 Line-up so far:
Boardmasters 2019 is set to welcome more than 50,000 people to the Cornish coast between Wednesday 7 – Sunday 11 August 2019, with the surf comps taking place on Newquay’s Fistral Beach while Watergate Bay hosts the main music events.
Tickets are already on sale, with five-day camping tickets currently available for £179 (+booking fee), and payment plans starting with a £30 deposit.
Beyond the music, Boardmasters will return with its epic surf competition, part of the World Surf League Qualifying Series, bringing together the biggest names on the international surf scene to battle it out on the waves at Fistral Beach. More details will be revealed in 2019.
