Boardmasters Stage Splits Announced

The 9th-13th of August sees Boardmasters Festival taking over the beautiful Watergate Bay in Cornwall for 3 solid days of spectacular sounds. The festival organisers have pushed the boat out for this event, as they have invited some of the hottest artists on the scene to play at their event.

The festival organisers have announced their stage splits, but before we divulge exactly who is on each stage, let us recommend an artist or two who we think you should be catching.

Obviously, we suggest you pop along and see headliners, Alt-J. The Leeds three-piece have garnered critical acclaim over the years, not only for their outstanding musicianship but also for their thought-provoking lyrics. You’ll have no doubt heard tracks such as BreezeblocksMatilda, and Tesselate, but the boys have recently dropped their new album, Relaxer, so expect to hear tracks from that, too.

One DJ you definitely should not miss is DJ Shadow. We could go on about Shadow in great length, but in the interests of word-count, we’ll try and avoid that. However, Josh Davies‘ music is timeless. His debut album, Endtroducing, was released to widespread critical acclaim back in 1996, making it 21 years old this year. The man is a wizard behind the decks, cutting and scratching to perfection, and his solo productions are outstanding. Make the effort to go and see this man, you most definitely will not be disappointed.

Last (but not least) we recommend you go and see uber-colourful pop-rockers, The Flaming Lips. This band are quite easily one of the most phenomenal on the planet. They’ve been releasing albums on majors since 1993, when they released She Don’t Use Jelly, but it was 1999 album The Soft Bulletin that really brought them to the world’s attention.

Anyway, enough jibber-jabber. Here are those stage splits you’ve been waiting so patiently for.
