Cornbury Festival 2017 – Nextfest Preview

They do say ‘all good things must come to an end’. So, between 7th – 9th July, The Great Tew Park in Oxfordshire will be transformed into a mecca for music fans, as Cornbury Music Festival is arriving back in town, for its 14th year and, sadly, its ‘fabulous finale’.

Don’t despair, though, as festival organisers have gone all-out this year to see the festival off with a bang. They’ve got a cracking line-up ready to rock the festival for its last swan-song, and plenty of other attractions to keep attendees entertained in between acts.

There are literally tonnes of acts confirmed for Cornbury, including headliners Brian Adams and The Kaiser Chiefs, but what of the other acts on the bill? Well, you can’t go wrong with a bit of Imelda May, who has been on the scene now for 15 years.

The Irish songstress has recently released her fifth studio album, Life Love Flesh Blood, and will undoubtedly be performing tracks from that during her performance, although we’re sure you will be able to hear tracks that span the entirety of her career.

Also performing, we have singer-songwriter, and 00’s icon, Sophie Ellis-Bextor. The Londoner is quite possibly most well recognised for her collaboration with Spiller, for the number one chart hit Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love), in which she performed vocals.

No doubt that will get an airing at the festival, alongside tracks from her five albums, including Catch YouBittersweet, and tracks from her 2016 album Familia.

If you are seeking a bit of nostalgia, then no doubt you’ll be getting Deeply Dippy with 90’s pop act, Right Said FredThe I’m Too Sexy pair have sold in excess of twenty million records globally, so they know what they’re doing in terms of throwing down a jam or two.

This is evident from the numerous awards the pair have garnered over the span of their career, including a couple of coveted Ivor Novellos and a Brit Awards nomination. They’ve not long released a new album, entitled Exactly! which featured the single Sweet Treats, so no doubt they’ll be showing that one off as well as their more familiar hits.

The festival quite rightly boasts that it turns the idea of a country fair on its head, combining music with Morris dancing, funk with farmers, and carnivals with crooners. With that in mind, we’re sure you can expect quite the spectacle!

There will also be the usual workshops, fairground attractions, art installations and family fun for all to enjoy, and ticket holders will be able to refresh themselves with food and drink from one of the many food stalls (selling locally sourced produce) and bars (stocking local beers).

Cornbury Music Festival takes place from 7-9 July 2017 at The Great New Park, Oxfordshire. For the full line-up, plus photos, videos and ticket information, head to our Cornbury Festival information page.
