Ed Sheeran to Headline Sziget 2019 Opening Night

Everyone’s favourite flame-haired crooner, Ed Sheeran, will be delighting ticketholders with a full live performance at Budapest’s very own ‘Love Island’, Óbudai-Sziget, in 2019.

Sziget itself has been lauded as the Euro equivalent to desert-festival, Burning Man, given the size of the crowds that attend over the course of the festival, and it has won countless awards, including the highly-prized Best Major European Festival, in 2011 and 2014, courtesy of the European Festival Awards.

2019’s festival takes place between August 7th-13th, 2019, and with daily capacity at 90,000, that means that in excess of half a million people will be in attendance should it sell out. The first act to be confirmed by the festival is Ed Sheeran; something we are sure that Szitizens will be looking forward to.

The star is well-known for his emotive performances and is more than likely to be belting out singalong classics like Shape of YouPerfect, Photograph, and Sing. Fans of Sheeran will no doubt be descending on the island to witness this performance.

There will be plenty more music announced for the next edition of Sziget festival, which takes place in just under 11-month’s time, so we are excited to see what the organisers could pull out of the bag, given the fact that their first announcement is an international superstar.

If last year’s lineup is anything to go by, we’re in for a few more big announcements over the next few months…

You can sign up for tickets to the festival, here. Note that these early-bird tickets don’t go on sale until October 1st, so you’re going to have to make sure you’re poised and ready to buy one when the time comes!
