Eric Clapton and More Announced for BST Hyde Park Show in 2018
Yet more exciting news coming from the BST Hyde Park headquarters; not content with having Roger Waters over to play, organisers have just announced that more huge names will be heading to the festival.
Sunday July 8th sees none other than the almighty Eric Clapton hitting the stage. This won’t be the first time Clapton has graced Hyde Park with his talents, with BST 2018 being his fourth trip to the Royal Park.
Clapton, who has been recognised in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame no less than three times – as himself, with Cream, and with The Yardbirds, will be joined by one of Latin Blues’ most revered artists. Known primarily for his incredible guitar skills, Carlos Santana will be joining the line-up in July. He has sold in the region of 200 million LP’s which is pretty damn spectacular if you ask us!
Birmingham-born pop legend Steve Winwood will also be making an appearance. Steve has been at it since he was a mere 15 years old, charting as part of the Spencer Davis Group, before going on to join Eric Clapton in Blind Faith, alongside Ginger Baker and Rick Grech.
He pushed his band Traffic either side of his involvement in Blind Faith, then went on to see a successful solo career. Hopefully his set will follow the form of his recently released Winwood: Greatest Hits Live.
We also have an artist who has presented at BST before, back in 2013 when he supported the Rolling Stones. Gary Clark Jr hails from Texas, and offers a heady mix of soul, funk, and blues.
BST Hyde Park with Eric Clapton takes place on Sunday, July 8th 2018, at Hyde Park, London. Tickets go on sale at 9am, Friday 1st December, here.
