Festival No6 Announces First Act for 2018
Festival No.6 are getting in early with their announcements for next summer, as they’ve just let loose the news that they will be having The The headlining their 2018 event.
After a successful (albeit incredibly windy, by all accounts) 2017 shindig, which featured some top acts, stages, and some delectable pop-up surprises, organisers have been quick off the mark to score a headline slot with the cult 80s post-punkers.
The band, headed by Matt Johnson, have seen plenty of success since their inception back in 1979, spending an enviable amount of time in the UK album chart with their 1986 album The Infected. This was followed up three years later by Mind Bomb and then in 1993 with Dusk.
With a wealth of influences, ranging from the jangly psychedelia of Syd Barrett, to the grinding EBM of Throbbing Gristle, you can appreciate how The The became the band they were, fully encompassing the post-punk ethos that they so successfully promoted and embodied.
No doubt if you’re into The The, then you’ll be most excited by this news and will, right now, scrabbling to grab yourself a ticket or two for 2018’s No6. Well, unfortunately, tickets are yet to be released… HOWEVER, you can register for them on the Festival No6 website and, you will be pleased to know, the early-birds go on sale this Thursday (October 26th).
We’re still waiting to hear who else is going to be hitting the line-up, but keep your eyes peeled on our pages for information as soon as it arrives.
Festival No.6 takes place 6th – 9th September at Portmeirion, Wales. For the full line-up, photos, videos and ticket information head over to our Festival No6 Festival page.
