Beardy Folk Festival launches its inaugural event this year, as it welcomes a host of established and emerging folk artists to Shropshire’s Hopton Court for a summer feast of folk music.
Adding to the magic is the fact that it takes place over Midsummer weekend, between June 22nd and 24th.
Helped along by a serving of folk music that covers both the traditional and the modern, peppered with hints of indie, acoustic, country, Americana, and bluegrass, the festival looks set to be the folk foray to be seen at this summer.
Taking headline spot is Haircut 100’s Nick Heyward. Nick has been a purveyor of some of the finest indie-pop and new-wave music for 35 years, both as a member of his band and as a solo artist. Expect to hear tracks from his 2017 album, Woodland Echoes. Plenty more artists join him, including Chris Helme from The Seahorses, and Jim Moray.
Aside from the music, ticketholders can enjoy an artisan food market, bars serving real ales, ciders, and cocktails, a trade village, holistic therapies, and much more. The little ones will also be well catered for with fairground rides (so take a bagful of change) and storytelling.
