Chagstock Festival takes place 21-22 July 2017, showcasing a great variety of live music and entertainment for all ages

Originally a private event for less than a hundred people, Chagstock began in 2003 as a micro-festival in the garden.

Since then it has grown to become one of the South West’s favourite festivals, hosting the likes of The Waterboys, Lightning Seeds, The Boomtown Rats, Seth Lakeman and many more.

This year’s line-up is as impressive as ever, with Soul II Soul headlining Friday night and The Shires headlining Saturday.

This year’s theme will be Spies & Dolls in honour of organiser Si Ford’s mother, ‘The Original Miss Monypenny’ who passed away late last year. Festival organiser Si Ford commented:

“This year, Chagstock will be dedicated to the memory of my dear mother who passed away just before Christmas. It was after all in her back garden that the very first private Chagstock took place back in 2003.

“Her maiden name was Monypenny (the derivation of which is a long interesting story of its’ own), and during the 2 nd World War she joined the WRNS and worked at a satellite branch of Bletchley Park working the code breaking machines.

“Having signed the Official Secrets Act at the time, she was unable even to tell my father what she had been doing until the 1970s. So in a way she was the original ‘Miss Monypenny’.

“So with all this in mind, and in her honour, we are going for a theme of Spies & Dolls. We will also be formally re-naming the beer tent will Miss Monypennys’!

Fancy dress will be encouraged but does not necessarily have to be 007 Bond related – there are plenty of other options! We will be formalising the fancy dress competition this year and will publicise parade and judging times in due course.”

Full weekend tickets are £90 for adults, £65 teen and free for under 12s (ticket still required). Day tickets are also available.

Family tickets are also available: 2 Adults & 2 Under 18s is £270.

All weekend tickets include 2 nights of camping and car parking.

“The most fun you can have with 5,000 people with a great rock band in a field in Devon in the entire world” – The Boomtown Rats

“It’s definitely one of the most beautiful festivals I’ve ever played at. It’s set right in the heart of Dartmoor, so the fact that the stage is set in the midst of the sweeping wilderness is genuinely unlike anything you’ll see at any other festivals. It’s really evocative.” – Seth Lakeman

“The Best Little Festival in The South West” – Adrian Edmondson
