Glastonbury Announces Film Roster for Pilton Palais Cinema
Glastonbury’s Pilton Palais Cinema tent celebrates its 35th Anniversary this year, and they’re partying in style with a selection of awesome films and some new additions to the cinema area.
2017 sees the Pilton Palais taking place in a much larger tent. This, of course, means they can also throw in a much bigger screen, so you can enjoy the movies even if you are sat right at the back. They’ve also introduced some coconut matting for added comfort – no piles for you if you’re sat watching movies for eight hours straight!
There is also the addition of the Cha Cha Cha café, which allows cinema goers to obtain some delicious refreshments while they watch the big screen. This will also convert into a late-night bar.
Wednesday’s films include animated pig-flick, Sing, the much-anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy 2, leftfield brain twister Donnie Darko, docu-film Beside Bowie: The Mick Ronson Story, and classic martial arts action from Bruce Lee, Enter the Dragon.
Thursday’s films are Alien Covenant, Star Wars: Rogue One, The Big Lebowski, Robocop, Frozen, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and the stunningly animated The Adventures of Prince Achmed, which was one of the first films to use stop-motion animation.
Friday’s features are Ghostbusters, Dr. Strange, Sleaford Mods’ documentary Bunch of Kunst, the stunning new South Korean film, Okja making its UK premiere, and Hayao Mayazaki’s beautiful anime, Laputa: Castle in the Sky.
On Saturday they’re screening Bag of Rice, Gimme Danger, classic sci-fi flick Metropolis, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Don’t Look Now, and What About Bob? While Sunday offers viewers the chance to see Hedwig, Paterson, Rushmore, and another modern classic anime, Your Name.
Pilton Palais at Glastonbury Festival takes place 21 – 25 June at Worthy Farm, Pilton, Somerset. For the full line-up, photos, videos and ticket information head over to our Glastonbury Festival page.
