Jeremy Corbyn to Appear at Glastonbury With Run The Jewels
There’s nothing quite like a mass gathering of like-minded folks to really nourish the human spirit and get people standing shoulder-to-shoulder. Throw a man like Jeremy Corbyn into the mixer and you’ve got a recipe for something really quite remarkable.
NextFest caught Jezza at Wirral Live last month, where he was introduced to the stage by Reverend and the Makers – a move that saw the whole of the Merseyside Festival going absolutely nuts and chanting his name.
The People’s Favourite looks set to do so again, this time at Glastonbury, where he is set to make an appearance on the Pyramid Stage. Corbyn was due to appear at the festival’s Left Field area last year, but events surrounding the Brexit referendum prevented him from doing so.
This year is set to be different, though. Man of the hour, Corbyn, is set to take to the stage, no doubt to rapturous applause, this time to introduce hip-hop supergroup, Run the Jewels. This will follow the Queen’s Speech in parliament on Wednesday, so we could be looking at a new premier come the Saturday…who knows.
The appearance of Jeremy Corbyn at Glastonbury continues the festival’s tradition of supporting left-wing politics. We have the likes of Billy Bragg and Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer, John McDonnell both appearing on the festival roster this year (perhaps he’ll be sharing a tent with Jeremy…).
Obviously, Jeremy Corbyn’s appearance will be a massive draw at the festival, which this year hosts some top acts on its music roster. Let’s just hope the sun is out when JC takes to the stage.
Glastonbury Festival takes place 21 – 25 June at Worthy Farm, Pilton, Somerset. For the full line-up, photos, videos and ticket information head over to our Glastonbury Festival page.
