Liam Gallagher & Johnny Depp to appear at Glastonbury 2017

The rumours are true, legendary Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher will appear at Glastonbury 2017, bringing his new solo project to The Other Stage on Saturday 24th June at 5.45pm.

This means that both Liam and Noel Gallagher – who introduces the screening of Supersonic at William’s Green on the Friday night – will both appear at the festival over the course of the weekend. It may not quite be the reunion people having been waiting for, but if the videos of Liam Gallagher‘s recent shows are anything to go by, we’re in for a hell of a show on the Saturday evening.

Elsewhere, to celebrate the launch of the brand new drive in movie area, Cineramageddon, the festival has also announced Hollywood superstar Johnny Depp as the guest of honour. The Pirates Of The CaribbeanBlow, and Black Mass star will introduce his personal choice of films, which will screen through the night on Thursday 22nd June. You can reserve a car here.

This year the festival also welcomes Mike Massimino, an American engineer and NASA astronaut, who flew on two shuttle missions to repair the Hubble Telescope. He will be speaking at the The Free University of Glastonbury, whose programme of talks take place in the Crow’s Nest at the top of The Park. Massimino will appear at 2pm on Friday 23rd June.

Each of Depp’s choices has a special significance to the actor:

THE LIBERTINE: “This is one of those films that got lost in the shuffle. It’s a film that a lot of people on which worked very hard, and one that I am very proud of.”

WITHNAIL & I: “No film has ever made me laugh more, or filled me with so much joy… and dread! For me, this is perfect cinema. Genius.”

DEAD MAN: “Jim Jarmuch’s epic visual poem. It’s unlike anything else. A film which means many different things to many different people.”
