Liam Gallagher, The xx, Skepta to Headline Parklife 2018
Parklife Festival hits its ninth year this year and organisers have gone all out to ensure that festival attendees have plenty to write home about. There is a diverse array of acts set to perform at Heaton Park this year, ranging from some of pop music’s greatest, to electronic music’s most current DJs and producers.
Liam Gallagher follows up 2017’s release of his debut solo album, As You Were, with a headline slot on his home turf. According to his social media channels, Gallagher is looking “…forward to singing screaming n shouting for you all…” so expect quite a show. He’s no stranger to Heaton Park though, supporting The Stone Roses for their 2012 gigs with his band, Beady Eye, and prior to that with Oasis in 2009.
As one of grime’s biggest artists, Skepta will no doubt be bringing all manner of ruckus to Heaton as he too has been confirmed to play the two-dayer. He’ll be joined by sonically brilliant The XX, and the newly rekindled N.E.R.D who released their album, No-One Ever Really Dies, to critical acclaim at the back end of 2017.
Also confirmed are the likes of Chvrches, Everything Everything, and two of electronic music’s wunderkinds, Bonobo and Four Tet. The electronic line-up, come to mention it, is particularly strong, featuring the incredible Carl Cox, Chicago house pioneer Green Velvet, Manchester’s own Mella Dee, and adopted scouser and lady of the moment, Or:La.
With a history of top bookings, it comes as little surprise that Parklife organisers, who also curate the city’s Warehouse Project, have pulled the rabbit out of the hat with this announcement.
The Parklife Festival takes place at Heaton Park, between June 9th – 12th. You can grab your tickets for the festival, here.
