Line-up Announced for Kendal Calling 2019
Kendal Calling have revealed a huge line-up for this summer’s festival, with Courteeners, Doves and Manic Street Preachers all set to headline.
Taking place from 25 – 28 July at the Lake District’s Lowther Park, Kendal Calling boasts a festival setting almost as impressive as its music roster.
Kendal Calling 2019 will be the festival’s fourteenth edition, and with the previous thirteen having all sold out we can expect a 25,000-strong capacity crowd to be in attendance this summer.
Main Stage headliners Courteeners will be arriving at Lowther Park with an arsenal of festival anthems, including Modern Love, and Not Nineteen Forever, plus a load of new material which is set for release between now and the summer.
Fellow Mancunians Doves delighted fans late last year by announcing their return from an almost decade-long hiatus. Their headlining slot this summer marks the band’s first performance at the festival since 2010, and is certain to go down a storm with the Kendal Calling crowd.
Also on headlining duty, Welsh rock legends Manic Street Preachers only made their debut at Kendal Calling in 2017, but were keen to repeat the “inspiring” experience as soon as possible. Expect a set loaded with thirty-three years of rebellious alt-rock anthems when the Manics roll into Cumbria this summer.
The final headliners are two of the most influential artists from their respective genres; Nile Rodgers, performing at KC with his band, Chic, is a three-time Grammy award winner boasting an incredible catalogue of hits, from 70’s disco classics like Good Times right through to chart-topping collaborations with Daft Punk in 2013.
Meanwhile, techno giants Orbital are up there with the most important electronic artists of the 90’s, thrusting the sound into mainstream consciousness with 1994’s Snivilisation LP and their legendary televised set at Glastonbury the same year. Famous for their improvised live sets and mind-blowing visual displays, the duo are an absolute must-see at Kendal Calling 2019.
On this year’s line-up announcement, Festival Director Andy Smith said :
“We’re thrilled to be heading into our 14th year with no less than five headliners! From anticipated headline slots, to Kendal Calling favourites, legendary sing-along dance anthems & spotlight spectacles, this year’s line-up is one of our most diverse yet, allowing us to bring huge headliners to the fields of Cumbria, as well as exciting female fronted-bands, and shining new stars, amongst the rest of the magic that is sprinkled across the festival site, from art installations, to comedy, cabaret, gourmet food, real ale and so much more!
“We cannot wait to welcome our Kendal-Callers, new & old back to the fields for an unforgettable weekend amongst the rolling hills, one which we hope will allow you to create lasting memories amongst your friends, family & new festival acquaintances.
“The countdown is officially on – we’ll see you in the fields!”
