London BluesFest Announces First Acts for 2017
London’s BluesFest is back in 2017 with a killer line-up that is sure to slake the thirst of any hardened blues fan. This week has seen organisers announce two acts to whet your appetites (and with more to be announced, there should be plenty to keep followers of the blues sound occupied over the three-day festival, taking place between 27th-29th October.
First up we have Blues Rockers Steely Dan, who haven’t played a UK date in 9 years (their previous appearance on our shores was in 2009 on their Left Bank Holiday tour). The American jazz-rock collective were founded in 1972, and have been going strong ever since, releasing no less than nine studio albums between then and 2003. With a rare opportunity to catch the band live in the UK, fans are likely to want to snap these up the minute they go on sale.
Second act to be confirmed are the Doobie Brothers, who’s collective career has spanned 47 years this year (aside from a short hiatus between 1982-87), and has seen them amass 14 studio albums, 5 live albums, 9 compilation albums, and no less than 36 singles. They have been busy!
Leo Green, organiser of BluesFest, stated that “It’s a real coup for BluesFest to be presenting Steely Dan and The Doobie Brothers at this year’s festival – they rarely perform in the UK and are two bands who have influenced so many artists from across the musical spectrum.”
Tickets for the festival go on sale this Friday (12th May) at 10 am. You’ll need to be quick if you intend to go as they are likely to sell like hot-cakes. If you are an O2 customer you get early first refusal on the tickets.
BluesFest takes place 27-29 October at The O2 Arena, London.
