Roskilde Lineup 2019: The Cure, Travis Scott, Scarlet Pleasure & More Announced
Denmark’s Roskilde Festival have revealed the first wave of artists for their 49th edition, with a host of internationally renowned names lined up to perform in 2019.
The non-profit event, which takes place from 29 June – 6 July, is set to showcase 180 live artists across eight different stages over the course of the week, covering virtually every genre of music along the way.
Almost 40 years on since their first appearance at the festival, The Cure are set for their much-anticipated return to Roskilde, the scene of their very first Danish show back in 1985. Their performance must have gone down well, as they’ve been invited back to headline on five separate occasions since then.
On the announcement, head of programme Anders Wahrén said:
“The Cure are in every way the perfect closing act for next year’s edition of Roskilde Festival. They have an immense back catalogue of hits and beloved classics from the past 40 years, and their remarkably close relationship with our audience will surely create a special and very moving atmosphere.
When they asked to play the final weekend show on Orange Stage, we didn’t hesitate for a second. They can play for hours on end if they want to, and I won’t miss a second of it.”
Joining them at the top of the 2019 bill is US hip-hop artist Travis Scott, who arrives off the back of his latest LP release ASTROWORLD. He headlines Thursday 4th July on the Orange Stage.
Famous for energetic performances drenched in colour and chaos, Scott‘s live shows really are something to behold. Don’t believe us? Check out his set from Leopallooza earlier this summer.
Denmark’s #1 pop band, Scarlet Pleasure, are sure to go down an absolute storm at Roskilde 2019. The effervescent pop darlings are sure to draw huge crowds as they perform on home soil, and could be delivering some brand new material, as the trio are currently working on a new album.
Also announced for 2019:
Ghetto Kumbé (CO)
Full of Hell & The Body (US)
Julia Holter (US)
Nicola Cruz (EC)
Parquet Courts (US)
Rival Consoles (UK)
