Victorious Festival Announces Its World Music Line-Up
The World Music Village stage at 2017’s Victorious Festival has been announced by organisers today, and to say they’ve got a roster that well and truly reflects global music culture could be considered quite the understatement.
With a line-up spanning the entire world music spectrum, from afrobeat to bhangra, via latin, you can be sure to sample music from a huge range of cultures in the World Music Village.
Heading up the stage will be Sweden’s hip-hop queen, Neneh Cherry. Famed for her debut single Buffalo Stance, as well as 7 Seconds and Manchild, Neneh can be described as a truly global artist. She’ll be dropping a set from behind the decks.
Macka B will also be in attendance, appearing with Black Slate, in support. The reggae should flow like oceans from this bunch, given that they’ve been around since the 70s, so you are guaranteed some top toasting.
If you fancy something with a little eastern promise, then take a look at Des-C, who pioneered the bhangra sound here in the UK. He appears ahead of his debut long-player, First Flight, which is due for general release later in the year.
Also included on the bill are, Matuki, who will be providing afrobeat, Duke Bossa, with the latin tip, Sasha Ilyukevich & the Highly Skilled Migrants with their own brand of folk punk, Pan Jazz International Ensemble, Fellowship of the Groove, Emiliyah and the Mighty Z Allstars, and the Mikkee Majestic Soundsystem.
Victorious Festival takes place 25 – 27 August 2017, at Southsea, Portsmouth. For the full line-up, photos, videos and ticket information head over to our Victorious Festival page.
